How to wash a latch hook cushion

To wash a latch hook cushion, hand wash gently in cool water with mild detergent, avoiding wringing, then press water out with towels and air dry flat to prevent damage. Machine washing on a delicate cycle with cold water is possible for durable items, but always spot clean first and test for colorfastness.

Hand washing (recommended):
Fill a tub with cool water and a small amount of mild detergent such as dish soap or wool wash. Place the cushion in the water, fully submerge it, and gently swirl with your hands. Avoid scrubbing or rough agitation to protect the yarn. Let it soak for 10–15 minutes, then drain and rinse thoroughly with cold water until all soap is removed. Gently press excess water out between clean towels. Do not wring or twist, as this can distort the shape. Lay the cushion flat on a clean surface or drying rack and allow it to air dry away from direct sunlight.

Machine washing (use caution):
First, spot clean any stains with a damp cloth and mild suds, blotting gently. If you choose to machine wash, use a cold, delicate cycle with a mild detergent. After washing, always air dry the cushion flat and never use a dryer.

Tips and warnings:
Always test any cleaner on a small, hidden area first to check for colorfastness. Use only mild detergents and avoid harsh products, especially on wool, as they can damage the fibers. Never wring or twist the cushion, as this can stretch or damage the backing. Avoid heat completely by keeping the water cool and never tumble dry.
